Recap: Horizon Christian vs. Mooresville Christian Eagles
Even though Horizon Christian have not done well against the Mooresville Christian Eagles recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Horizon Christian took down Mooresville Christian 59-44. Given Horizon Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 169th, while Mooresville Christian is ranked 340th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Horizon Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brayden Mathews, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Mathews also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinn Yoder, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Mooresville Christian still got an impressive performance from Cameron Boerner, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. That's the first time this season that Boerner scored 15 or more points. Gabe Warren was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with two steals.
Horizon Christian pushed their record up to 12-4 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Mooresville Christian, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Horizon Christian will take on Pleasant View Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pleasant View Christian will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line. Mooresville Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Crosspointe Christian Academy at 7:15 p.m. on January 9th. Hopefully Crosspointe Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 back in December of 2023.
