Basketball Recap: Afton Comes Up Short

Afton lost against Oklahoma Union two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Afton Eagles lost 58-38 to the Oklahoma Union Cougars. The Eagles' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Despite the defeat, Afton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Aiden Victor went 8 of 19 on his way to 21 points. That was a full 55.3% of Afton's points, marking the 12th time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Robinson, who had seven points and five boards.

Afton now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Oklahoma Union, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.

Afton will head out on the road to take on Welch at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Welch will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Afton surely won't give up without a fight. As for Oklahoma Union, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Caney Valley at 7:30 p.m. Oklahoma Union is facing Caney Valley at the right time seeing as Caney Valley is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
