Volleyball Recap: Washington Township Beats Boone Grove for Their Third Straight Victory

Washington Township had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Boone Grove on Thursday. The Senators blew past the Wolves 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Senators have posted against the Wolves since September 10, 2019.

Washington Township's got stronger as the match went on, holding Boone Grove to fewer and fewer points set over set. The match finished with set scores of 32-30, 25-23, 25-21.

Ryan Brinkley paced Washington Township's offense, picking up 16 kills. Brinkley got some help from Aiden Armstrong and his 26 assists. Brinkley was also solid from the service line: he led the team with two aces.

Despite the loss, Boone Grove still got an impressive performance from Ryder McCoy, who had 31 digs. Another player making a difference was Max Pollnow, who had 14 assists and six digs.

The win (which was Washington Township's third in a row) raised their record to 5-2. As for Boone Grove, they moved to 4-2 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Boone Grove will square off against rival Lake Central at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Wolves have won 12 straight at home dating back to last season, while the Indians won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
