Softball Recap: Chatsworth's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Chatsworth came into Saturday's matchup having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the South Gate Rams by a score of 7-2 on Saturday.

B Lira was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season.

In other batting news, Samantha Roldan and Lila Mashhoud did most of the damage at the plate: Roldan scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Mashhoud went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two stolen bases gave Roldan a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Izellah Saldate-Gomez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Chatsworth's victory bumped their record up to 2-8. As for South Gate, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-11.

Looking ahead, Chatsworth will take on Eagle Rock at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for South Gate, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-3 win against Roosevelt on the 2nd.
