It was close, but on Wednesday the Lexington Minutemen sidestepped the Belmont Marauders for a 2-1 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Lexington's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts soccer rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Belmont are ranked 139th).

Lexington's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored nine goals over those three contests. As for Belmont, they now have a losing record of 2-3-4.

Looking ahead, Lexington will face off against Boston College High at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Belmont, they will challenge Winchester at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
