Softball Recap: New Prairie's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Five

New Prairie came tearing into Saturday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the La Porte Slicers 15-2. That looming 15-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cougars yet this season.

Emma Harris tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, Ava Geyer and Abby Harmon did most of the damage at the plate: Geyer went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Harmon went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Randi Robakowski was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

New Prairie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

New Prairie pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for La Porte, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Prairie will venture away from home to take on Lakeshore at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for La Porte, they will head out to face off against Valparaiso at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
