Baseball Recap: Hudson Wins High-Profile Match Against Kimberly

Hudson faced Kimberly in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Raiders' pitchers stepped up to hand the Papermakers a 6-0 shutout. Considering the Raiders have won five games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Hudson got a great performance from Mitchell Anderson as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 5.2 innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jace Mataczynski, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Manchester, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 3-for-4.

Hudson lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The victory (which was Hudson's fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Kimberly, their loss ended a 14-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-3-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hudson will welcome River Falls at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kimberly, they will host Appleton West at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
