Basketball Game Preview: Austin Eagles vs. New Washington Mustangs

The Austin Eagles will venture away from home to take on the New Washington Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Saturday, Austin had just enough and edged Springs Valley out 34-32.

New Washington got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They walked away with a 47-38 victory over Henryville on Friday. That nine point margin sets a new team best for the Mustangs this season.

Austin's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-8. As for New Washington, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-8.

Everything came up roses for Austin against New Washington in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 61-29 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Austin since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
