Softball Game Preview: Loogootee Lions vs. Eastern Greene Thunderbirds

The Loogootee Lions will venture away from home to take on the Eastern Greene Thunderbirds at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither Loogootee nor Eastern Greene posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Loogootee fell victim to Barr-Reeve and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 7-0 to the Vikings. The loss continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost six in a row.

Meanwhile, Eastern Greene came up short against Mitchell on Tuesday, falling 25-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Thunderbirds have suffered against the Bluejackets since April 16, 2019.

Eastern Greene's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Loogootee, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Loogootee was able to grind out a solid win over Eastern Greene in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, winning 7-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
