Preview: Monticello Billies vs. Highland Rebels
Monticello has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Highland Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Monticello has not done well against Crossett recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Monticello came out on top against Crossett by a score of 36-26. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but Monticello was the better team in the second half.
Monticello's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ja?quayvius Rhodes led the charge by gaining 128 total yards. Monticello also got a significant boost from Pharrell Lewis, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 102 yards.
Meanwhile, Highland waltzed into Friday's game with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 14-6 victory over Pocahontas.
Keagan Statler continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 149 yards and a touchdown.
Monticello has yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 7-3 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.3 points per game. As for Highland, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.
