Baseball Recap: Crawford Has No Trouble Against Bruceville-Eddy

The third road contest was the charm for Crawford, as they earned their first away win of the season. They blew past the Bruceville-Eddy Eagles 17-3 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won seven in a row.

Crawford let Ryan Yocham and Cade Carroll run wild. Yocham scored four runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Carroll scored three runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-4. Crawford is 2-1 when Yocham posts two or more stolen bases, but 6-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Issak Velasquez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Crawford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matches.

The win got Crawford back to even at 8-8. As for Bruceville-Eddy, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-15.

Coming up, Crawford will head out to square off against Hamilton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.2 runs per game on average), something the Pirates will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Bruceville-Eddy, they will be playing at home against Moody at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
