Softball Game Preview: Franklin Broncos vs. Greensville County Eagles

Franklin is 0-10 against Greensville County since April of 2015 but things could change on Monday. The Broncos will look to defend their home field against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Thursday, Franklin came up short against Northampton and fell 16-12. Even though they lost, the Broncos' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.4 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Ja'Najh Frazier made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Nadia Jordan, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Greensville County strolled into their game last Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Everything went their way against Brunswick as they made off with an 18-6 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won three matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Greensville County pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Franklin, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8-2.

Franklin might still be hurting after the 13-0 defeat they got from Greensville County in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Broncos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
