Softball Recap: Madison West Comes Up Short

Madison West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 19th straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 7-4 to the Middleton Cardinals. If the Regents were looking for revenge after losing 4-0 to the Cardinals when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Fiona Dettmann was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That RBI was her first of the season.

Madison West's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Middleton, their record is now 3-1.

Coming up, Madison West will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Sun Prairie West at 5:00 p.m. The Regents' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 11.1 runs per game this season. As for Middleton, they will venture away from home to challenge Madison La Follette at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
