Football Recap: River Valley Extends Winning Streak to Six

River Valley extended their winning streak to six on Friday, bumping them up to 7-3. They strolled past the Dysart Demons with points to spare, taking the game 46-30. The Dust Devils have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Demons, too.

Special teams played a big role in the game for River Valley, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Riley Gonzalez, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

River Valley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Nathan Bush and Gonzalez.

As for Dysart, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 5-5. Their loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Despite the defeat, Dysart had strong showings from Jevon Christmas, who rushed for 198 yards and two scores on only 13 carries, and Donovan Hinchey, who gained 151 total yards and two touchdowns. Hinchey's longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. River Valley will venture away from home to take on Show Low at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars' defense has only allowed 9.2 points per game this season, so the Dust Devils' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Dysart, they will head out to challenge Benjamin Franklin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Demons will need to watch out since the Chargers have now posted at least 31 points in their last seven contests.
