Basketball Recap: Rawlins County Skates Past Trego with Ease

Rawlins County lost to Trego back in February of 2016, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Rawlins County Buffaloes simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Trego Golden Eagles 56-28. The Buffaloes pushed the score to 44-19 by the end of the third, a deficit the Golden Eagles had little chance of recovering from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rawlins County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tayten Dewey, who posted 20 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Kayte Shively, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Rawlins County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Trego's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Morgan Brown, who had nine points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Ziegler, who put up eight points and six rebounds.

Rawlins County pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Trego, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Rawlins County is taking a road trip to challenge Wallace County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wallace County will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Rawlins County surely won't give up without a fight. As for Trego, they will host Hill City at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
