Baseball Recap: Caverna Comes Up Short

Caverna extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 18 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-14 in the process. They came up short against the Edmonson County Wildcats, falling 18-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-0 on Monday.

Caverna saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josh Greenwood, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Taviane Alexander also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

As for Edmonson County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-11-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.5 runs over those games.

On Edmonson County's side, Logan Key was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Key a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Meredith, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Caverna will host Russellville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Edmonson County, they will face off against Hart County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.57 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
