Baseball Game Preview: Chino Hills Huskies vs. Santiago Sharks

The Chino Hills Huskies will face off against the Santiago Sharks at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Chino Hills is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.

Chino Hills gave up the first runs last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 6-2 win over Kennedy.

Brody Buoncristiani made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other pitching news, Max Zaldivar looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Frankie Brazil, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and three stolen bases. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Josh Mendez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Santiago won against Dana Hills last Wednesday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again last Thursday. Santiago beat El Rancho by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 4-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Sharks.

Chino Hills pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Santiago, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
