Baseball Recap: Mount Miguel Finds Home Field Redemption Against Hoover

There's no place like home for Mount Miguel, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Hoover Cardinals on Wednesday. The Matadors haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Angel Delgado was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. He has become a key player for Mount Miguel: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Easton Sanchez was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Mount Miguel pushed their record up to 7-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Hoover, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-15.

Mount Miguel will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against West Hills at 4:00 p.m. on the 24th. As for Hoover, they will be playing at home against Central at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
