Volleyball Recap: Mercer Mustangs vs. Fairview Tigers
After flying high against Jamestown last Wednesday, Mercer came back down to earth. The Mercer Mustangs fell just short of the Fairview Tigers by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Mustangs' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Mercer took Fairview into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking nine-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 11-25, 25-22, 25-13, 17-25, 15-6.
Fairview's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brianna Irwin, who had ten digs and four aces. Those four aces gave Irwin a new career-high.
Mercer's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-5. As for Fairview, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-9-1.
