Baseball Recap: Corinth Riverhawks vs. Granville Golden Horde

Corinth had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Granville Golden Horde on Wednesday. For Corinth, this counts as revenge for the 9-0 loss Granville walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.

Eddie McGuire made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. McGuire was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

McGuire wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Josh Colson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Granville's defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-1.

Corinth will take on Warrensburg at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Granville, they will head out on the road to square off against Hartford Central at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
