Alma lost to Southern Valley back in October of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Cardinals came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cardinals have posted against the Eagles since October 4, 2022.

Alma had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 20-25, 22-25, 25-18, 25-16, 15-9.

Tierston Moore paced Alma's offense, picking up 16 kills. Moore got some help from Abbie Pool and her 23 assists. Pool also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Halee Neubauer, each putting up four.

Alma's win bumped their record up to 11-13. As for Southern Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season.

Alma didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Sumner-Eddyville-Miller on the 9th. As for Southern Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Maywood/Hayes Center on the 9th.
