Preview: Elm Creek Buffaloes vs. Minden Whippets
Elm Creek has been on the road for two straight, but on Saturday they'll finally head home. Having just played yesterday, they will get right back to it and host the Minden Whippets at 6:15 p.m. on December 16th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Elm Creek is ranked 107th, while Minden is ranked 98th).
Even though Bertrand scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, Elm Creek still came out on top. Elm Creek snuck past Bertrand with a 61-56 victory.
Elm Creek's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kade Sindt, who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. The game was Sindt's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Quin Oberg, who scored 16 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Minden ended up a good deal behind Central City on Tuesday and lost 55-37. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Minden has scored all season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Kade Dorszynski, who scored 11 points. The contest was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jake Ryan, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
The victory got Elm Creek back to even at 3-3. As for Minden, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Things could have been worse for Elm Creek, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 55-37 loss to Minden in their previous matchup back in December of 2021. Thankfully for Elm Creek, Carter Harsin (who scored 14 points along with four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
