Baseball Recap: Mountain View Gets the Win

Mountain View took a 12-run defeat the last time they faced off against Fabens, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Lobos came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wildcats on Monday, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lobos have posted since April 2, 2025.

Emmanuel Martinez spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Mountain View is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-10-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Mountain View's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gerardo Gandara, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That double was Gandara's first of the season.

Mountain View's win bumped their record up to 9-11-1. As for Fabens, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-10.

Mountain View will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
