Basketball Recap: Monroe Central's Run of Five Straight Wins Now Over

Monroe Central lost against Waterford back in November and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Monroe Central Seminoles came up short against the Waterford Wildcats, falling 46-24. While losing is never fun, the Seminoles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 174th, while the Wildcats are ranked fifth).

Monroe Central moved to 6-3 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak. As for Waterford, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Monroe Central will take on Caldwell in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Monroe Central is facing Caldwell at the right time seeing as Caldwell is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Waterford, they will be home for the holidays to greet Athens at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Waterford has won nine straight at home dating back to last season, while Athens won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
