Rio Rico is 9-1 against Amphitheater since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Rio Rico Hawks will head out to face off against the Amphitheater Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Rio Rico will be strutting in after a victory while Amphitheater will be coming in after a defeat.

Rio Rico is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Cholla to the tune of 81-15 on Wednesday. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Chargers are ranked 266th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Amphitheater's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 55-54 to Sahuarita.

Rio Rico's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Amphitheater, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.

Rio Rico was able to grind out a solid victory over Amphitheater in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, winning 58-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rio Rico since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
