Baseball Recap: Wheat Ridge Takes a Loss

Wheat Ridge had lost nine straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 5-15 to make it ten. They fell just short of the Green Mountain Rams by a score of 12-11. Even if the Farmers couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Anthony Torrez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Sawyer Kingsley, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As for Green Mountain, their win bumped their record up to 5-17. The victory continues a trend for them in their matchups with Wheat Ridge: they've now won nine in a row.

On Green Mountain's side, Colton Buscher looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Buscher has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Corbin Wade was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. Green Mountain is 5-1 when Wade posts two or more runs, but 0-16 otherwise. Cooper Jones was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI.
