Football Recap: Sequoyah Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win + How To Watch

Sequoyah had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They beat the Coffee Trojans on Friday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 31-14. Given the Chiefs' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Trojans are ranked 107th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Sequoyah to victory were Will Rajecki and Kolby Martin. Rajecki gained 201 total yards and two touchdowns, while Martin rushed for 70 yards and one TD. Those 70 rushing yards gave Martin a new career-high.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Sequoyah proved: they limited Coffee to a paltry 3.3 yards per carry. The team can thank Asa Goings for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sequoyah's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 5.4.

Sequoyah's defense didn't let Tommy Stanley, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Matthew Matz with two. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with six. Sequoyah got some further help from Drew Williams: he picked up a sack, made eight total tackles, and defended one pass.

Despite the defeat, Coffee saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kadrien Wooten made 19 total tackles. Bobby Reynolds's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 115 rushing yards.

The win was the fifth in a row for Sequoyah, bringing their record up to 10-1. As for Coffee, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Sequoyah wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 48-28 victory against Newnan on the 21st. Coffee does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
