Animas is 8-2 against Reserve since February of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Animas Panthers will face off against the Reserve Mountaineers at 5:00 p.m.

Last Thursday, Animas had to suffer through a 65-36 loss at the hands of Magdalena. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Steers: they've now lost four in a row.

Defeat or not, Animas got some senior leadership from Laikyn Davenport and Journey Sheehan. Davenport posted 22 points, while Sheehan had seven points and ten rebounds. Animas is undefeated when Sheehan posts eight or more boards, but 2-8 otherwise.

Even though they lost, Animas smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Reserve, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top against Pine Hill by a score of 45-33 on Tuesday.

Reserve's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Animas, they now have a losing record at 7-8.

Animas came up short against Reserve when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 48-40. Can Animas avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
