Baseball Game Preview: Sports Leadership & Management Spartans vs. Key West Conchs

For the second straight game, Sports Leadership & Management will face off against Key West. Sports Leadership & Management will square off against Key West at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

On Friday, Sports Leadership & Management needed a bit of extra time to put away Key West. They had just enough and edged out the Conchs 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Spartans have posted since February 25th.

Isaiah Morales made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Sports Leadership & Management got a massive performance out of Andrew Bunner, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Bunner is becoming a predictor of Sports Leadership & Management's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 3-10 when he doesn't). Chris Pope was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Sports Leadership & Management kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.

Sports Leadership & Management has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Key West and nudges their season record down to 11-8.
