Basketball Recap: Frankfort Takes a Loss

Frankfort was the 61-49 winner over Crawfordsville when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Frankfort Hot Dogs were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 50-49 to the Crawfordsville Athenians. While the Hot Dogs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Athenians 19-11 in the first quarter.

Frankfort's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of RJ Cornman, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals, and Lucas Waggoner, who posted 13 points and five boards. The dominant performance gave Cornman a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Luke Beardsley, who earned two points and nine rebounds.

Mason McCarty went supernova for Crawfordsville, going 7 for 14 en route to 23 points. Alec Saidian was another key player, going 7 of 15 on his way to 14 points along with five boards and four steals.

Frankfort dropped their record down to 2-15 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Crawfordsville, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-8 record this season.

Frankfort will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Danville at 7:30 p.m. Danville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61 points per game this season. Crawfordsville has already played their next contest, a 67-30 defeat against Northview on the 1st.
