Basketball Recap: Shabazz Takes a Loss

Shabazz was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 39-12 loss at the hands of the American History Eagles. The match marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

American History got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Shamiyah Mubarak out in front who posted 14 points along with seven steals and six boards. That's the most rebounds Mubarak has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Ashiyah Holliman, who earned 12 points in addition to eight steals and seven boards.

Shabazz's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for American History, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-6.

Shabazz will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on West Side at 4:00 p.m. on February 11th. American History has already played their next game (against North Star Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
