Basketball Recap: Pelham Skates Past Chilton County with Ease

It was a proper cat-fight when Pelham faced off against Chilton County on Monday. The Pelham Panthers blew past the Chilton County Tigers, posting a 60-30 victory. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Tigers are ranked 361st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pelham's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Janiah Harris, who went 5 of 10 en route to 11 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points Harris has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Hollingsworth, who posted ten points and six steals.

Pelham smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 29 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Pelham and bumps their season record up to 15-11. As for Chilton County, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-18.

Pelham will host Marbury at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Marbury knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Pelham likes a good challenge. Chilton County has already played their next game, a 61-23 defeat against Helena on the 28th.
