Soccer Game Preview: Fountain Valley vs. Newport Harbor

The Fountain Valley Barons will square off against the Newport Harbor Sailors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Fountain Valley is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Edison just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 3-0 to the Chargers. Considering the last time the Barons couldn't score was back in December of 2024, the team can't take the result too hard.

Meanwhile, Newport Harbor fell victim to Los Alamitos and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They came up short against the Griffins, falling 3-0.

Fountain Valley's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 6-3. As for Newport Harbor, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Fountain Valley beat Newport Harbor by a goal in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fountain Valley since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
