On Wednesday, Saint Francis Catholic needed a bit of extra time to put away Oak Hall. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Eagles.
Sander Williams looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Chris Durstine was a standout: he scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Diaz, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Fort White made easy work of Eastside on Tuesday and carried off a 17-2 victory. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Patrick Kennedy made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Fort White is 6-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 4-6 otherwise. Kennedy was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Matthew Pitts, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Davic Kasper was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.
Fort White was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eastside only posted a batting average of .071.
Saint Francis Catholic's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-6. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Fort White, their record now sits at 10-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Saint Francis Catholic has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Fort White struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
