Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Morenci

Morenci won the last time they faced St. Augustine Catholic and things went their way on Thursday too. The Morenci Wildcats strolled past the St. Augustine Catholic Wolves with points to spare, taking the game 69-53. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Wolves are ranked 330th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the defeat, St. Augustine Catholic saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Carlos Acuna went 10 of 21 on his way to 27 points and six boards. Acuna is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jovanni Fernandez, who posted ten points and five rebounds.
