Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Max Lewandowski and Eli Jaixen Lead Arcadia/Loup City to Victory

Arcadia/Loup City can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They snuck past the Bertrand Vikings with a 59-55 victory. For the Rebels, this counts as revenge for the 46-41 win the Vikings walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Leading Arcadia/Loup City to victory were Eli Jaixen and Max Lewandowski. Jaixen went 6 of 14 on his way to 17 points in addition to six boards and five assists, while Lewandowski went 10 for 13 on his way to 21 points and eight rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Lewandowski has scored at least a third of Arcadia/Loup City's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brogan Setlik, who posted six points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Arcadia/Loup City was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Bertrand's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Thunder Nelson, who went 10 of 25 on his way to 25 points along with six boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Nelson a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eric Wood, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 13 points.

Arcadia/Loup City's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Bertrand, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Arcadia/Loup City will welcome Wood River at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. As for Bertrand, they will face off against Wauneta-Palisade at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
