Basketball Game Preview: Hug Hawks vs. North Valleys Panthers

Two dominant guards in Cori Carrier and Ivy Williams are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Hug Hawks are taking a road trip to challenge the North Valleys Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hug will be strutting in after a win while North Valleys will be coming in after a loss.

Last Wednesday, Hug was able to grind out a solid victory over Wooster, taking the game 45-36. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hawks.

Hug can attribute much of their success to Taliyah Henderson, who went 7 for 14 on her way to 17 points along with six steals and five rebounds, and Carrier, who went 6 of 10 en route to 13 points in addition to six boards and six steals. The dominant performance gave Henderson a new career-high in points. Amiah Ahonima was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten rebounds and ten blocks.

Meanwhile, North Valleys faced Pyramid Lake in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. North Valleys fell to Pyramid Lake 57-51. The Panthers' defeat signaled the end of their 16-game winning streak.

Hug pushed their record up to 10-9 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for North Valleys, their loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-4.

Hug might still be hurting after the 46-24 defeat they got from North Valleys in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can Hug avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
