Basketball Recap: Minatare Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against South Platte, Minatare was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with a 59-52 victory over the Banner County Wildcats. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Indians as it put an end to their ten-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Leading Minatare to victory were Hunter Poor Bear and Dionicio Hernandes. Poor Bear went 13 for 28 on his way to 34 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals, while Hernandes went 8 for 13 on his way to 18 points in addition to five assists and five steals. Those five steals gave Poor Bear a new career-high.

The victory got Minatare back to even at 1-1. As for Banner County, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Minatare didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 72-46 defeat against Sioux County on the 13th. As for Banner County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-34 loss against Bayard on the 13th.
