Basketball Recap: Boerne-Champion Comes Up Short

Boerne-Champion lost against Smithson Valley back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Boerne-Champion Chargers took a 60-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Smithson Valley Rangers. The Chargers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Boerne-Champion lost, don't look at Logan Scott. Despite the final result, he went 8-for-13 to rack up 20 points in addition to eight boards and five steals. Luke Sorensen also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assists of the season.

Smithson Valley was led to victory by Robert Gutierrez and Kalten Guerra. Gutierrez went 6-for-7 on his way to 18 points, while Guerra posted 11 points and six assists. Gutierrez continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Carson Moreno was another key player, putting up nine points.

Boerne-Champion's loss dropped their record down to 22-13. As for Smithson Valley, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-15.

As of now, neither Boerne-Champion nor Smithson Valley have any future games scheduled.
