Volleyball Recap: Austin Comes Up Short

Austin was the 2-1 winner over Mankato East when they last played one another back in August, but their luck changed this time around. The Packers fell 2-0 to the Cougars on Saturday. The Packers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While Austin was not able to win a set, they sure kept things interesting: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-23.

Isabella Bolser paced Austin's offense, picking up nine kills. Bolser got some help from Sophie Kaercher and her 20 assists. Finally, Bolser was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Austin's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Mankato East, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season.

While Austin had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
