Volleyball Recap: Austin Takes a Loss

Austin entered their contest against Mankato East on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Packers fell 2-0 to the Cougars. The Packers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 2-1.

The 2-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-23.

Isabella Bolser paced Austin's offense, picking up nine kills. Bolser got some help from Sophie Kaercher and her 20 assists. Finally, Bolser was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Austin's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Mankato East, their win ended a three-match drought on the road and puts them at 7-6.

Austin has already played their next match, a 2-1 victory against New Ulm on the 20th. Hopefully Mankato East paid attention to the Packers' matchup: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Packers at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
