Softball Recap: Crockett County Extends Winning Streak to Five

Crockett County extended their winning streak to five on Saturday, bumping their season record up to 24-7 in the process. They put the hurt on the Colbert Heights Wildcats with a sharp 12-2 victory. Considering the Cavaliers have won 18 matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Gabby Bursey, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Maddie Stitts, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Crockett County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .611. They are a perfect 18-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

As for Colbert Heights, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 26-10. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this contest were averaging 3.39 runs allowed.

On Colbert Heights' side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Holcomb, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Crockett County will host Dyer County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Colbert Heights, they will venture away from home to square off against Covenant Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
