Recap: Lakeland Lakers vs. Wawasee Warriors

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Lakeland Lakers, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 42-16 walloping at the hands of the Warriors on Tuesday. Lakeland's loss continues an unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Lakeland lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cara Schackow, who scored three points along with eight blocks. Schackow is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Ryan, who scored five points along with seven rebounds.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Lakeland struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They are winless (0-4) when they just don't pass the ball.

Mackenzie Hackleman continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Wawasee, scoring 20 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hackleman has scored all season. Lucy Wilkinson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.

Lakeland has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-19 record this season. As for Wawasee, their win bumped their record up to 14-9.

Lakeland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wawasee, they will square off against Fairfield at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fairfield will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Wawasee surely won't give up without a fight.
