Baseball Recap: Denver North Comes Up Short

Denver North came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 12-5 to the Denver East Angels. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Angels apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Denver North saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was John Miller, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Miller is becoming a predictor of the Vikings' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 4-6 when he doesn't). Israel Torres was another, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Denver North's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-7. As for Denver East, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Denver North will take on Thomas Jefferson at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Denver East, they will square off against Eaglecrest at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Raptors will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Angels surely won't give up without a fight.
