Softball Game Preview: Carter Cowboys vs. Conrad Chargers

The Carter Cowboys will head out to take on the Conrad Chargers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Carter will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Wilmer-Hutchins on Friday. The Cowboys blew past the Eagles 18-3. The victory continues a trend for the Cowboys in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.

Matisse Edward made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Edward was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

In other batting news, Chancecellia McCray and Jalissa Silas did most of the damage at the plate: McCray scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Silas scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Silas is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kenadi Langdon, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Conrad had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. Everything went their way against the Tigers as they made off with a 20-10 win.

Carter's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.5 runs over those games. As for Conrad, their record now sits at 14-8.

Carter took their victory against Conrad when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 18-9 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cowboys since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
