Hutto entered their  game against Vandegrift  on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Hippos took  a  44-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vipers. Despite 75 more yards than the Vipers, the Hippos couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

 Several Hippos players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was   Jaiden Fields, who picked up 236 receiving yards and two  touchdowns. Fields' receiving production has been exceptional  recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 118  receiving yards.  Keilan Chavies was in the mix  as well, providing Hutto with two TDs.
 Vandegrift's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but  Sam Brown led the charge by rushing for 116 yards and a pair of  scores on only 14 carries. The dominant performance also gave  Brown a new career-high in  rushing touchdowns (two).  Justin Moore also helped out as he racked up 100 rushing yards.
Hutto's  loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for Vandegrift, the  win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
 Coming up, Hutto will face off against Vista Ridge at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The Hippos will need to watch out since the Rangers have now posted at least 31  points  in their last three contests. As for Vandegrift, they will take on Round Rock Westwood at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.
