Recap: Sandpoint Bulldogs vs. Lakeland Hawks
On Saturday, the Sandpoint Bulldogs faced the Lakeland Hawks in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Sandpoint took a 42-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lakeland. Sandpoint has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Despite the loss, Sandpoint saw an underclassman step up: Brecken Mire scored 12 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Karlie Banks, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
Sandpoint's defeat dropped their record down to 20-5. As for Lakeland, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.
Sandpoint does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lakeland will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Bishop Kelly at 12:00 p.m. on February 15th. Bishop Kelly will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Lakeland surely won't give up without a fight.
