Basketball Recap: Rod Bailey's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lafayette County over Columbia Christian

Lafayette County has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 55-50 heartbreaker at the hands of the Columbia Christian Crusaders. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Crusaders earlier this season, when they won 58-49.

Lafayette County lost on Monday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Rod Bailey, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. Bailey has become a key player for Lafayette County: the team is 12-4 when he posts at least ten rebounds, but 1-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Palermo, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 boards.

Lafayette County's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Columbia Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season.

Lafayette County has already played their next game, a 63-47 win against Emerson on the 28th. As for Columbia Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 66-51 victory against Bradley on the 28th.
