Baseball Recap: Lumberton Continues Home Dominance on Friday

While Lumberton's victory against North Forrest wasn't quite the blowout they won the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lumberton Panthers skirted past the North Forrest Eagles 8-6. While the Panthers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-15-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

The team relied heavily on Hunner Long, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Kobe Adams also deserves some recognition as he stole his first stolen base of the season.

Lumberton pushed their record up to 6-1-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for North Forrest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Panthers duke it out with the Tigers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Lumberton's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Hattiesburg's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for North Forrest, they will square off against McLaurin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. McLaurin has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.75 runs per game on average), something North Forrest will no doubt try to take advantage of.
