Baseball Recap: Payette Victorious

Payette proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by ten) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cole Valley Christian Chargers, sneaking past 5-3. The Pirates have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Chargers, too.

Jahzyon Sylva made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Sylva wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ryker Phillips, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Payette's record now sits at 11-9. As for Cole Valley Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-8.

Payette will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Chargers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
